I recently came across a link to one of Mitch Hedber’s “free writing” exercises: https://i.imgur.com/15vMLqr.jpg
I’ve tried free writing before and I’ve always found it therapeutic. It helps me to keep the mindset of only writing for myself and not thinking anyone else will read it. It takes away the embarrassment of putting things down on the page.
To me, free writing is just regurgitating words from my brain. Whatever comes up next is what gets put down. I wish writing a novel could be that easy. I would fly through manuscripts weekly. But maybe that’s possible with enough practice.
Just gotta keep doing it and don’t be lazy.
Mitch Hedberg was a great and funny man. He is missed.
